Lake Balaton - Tihany most alluring village:

Tihany peninsula is centered on a baroque Benedictine abbey built in 1754 atop a much earlier structure dating from 1055. The church's ceiling is decorated with frescoes depicting Faith, Hope and Love. Beneath the church, which houses the tomb of King Andrew (was buried in 1060), which has been preserved until now. The deed of foundation of the Abbey was mostly written in Latin but contains a Hungarian sentence which makes the document the first memory of Hungarian language. From the church grounds you get sweeping views of the Lake Balaton. The peninsula abounds in natural treasures. The area belongs to the Balaton Uplands National Park (Balatonfelvidéki Nemzeti Park).
